Mahdia beach

Covered in fine powder-like sand, the beaches of Mahdia are stretching along the northern coast of Tunisia in a long white line. Hotels with their own beach plots and respective infrastructure are located near and directly on the beachfront. Total length of beaches – more than 3 km.

Beach description

The entry into the water is gently sloping, the bottom is sandy. The sea is still. Long shoals are comfortable for holidays with small children, but not very suitable for lovers of swimming. You can only get to the depth after a stroll in shallow water. One of the essential disadvantages is the abundance of algae near the shore, but when you go to the depth the water clears up.

There is a developed infrastructure – rental of sun loungers, umbrellas, deck chairs. There are cafes, diners, restaurants, barbecues. You can go water skiing, parasailing, diving. The back of the beach area is surrounded by lush tropical thickets, palm trees, which give a special charm to the landscape.

The beaches of Mahdia are impressively wide, so even in the peak of the swimming season they seem deserted. It's quiet and comfortable there – you won't hear music, noise, no busy highways nearby.

French, many Germans prefer to vacation in the resort. This is mainly pensioners, lovers of privacy and families with children. Noisy youth companies rarely come here, as there are no entertainment establishments nearby.

When is it better to go

Tunisia is located in two climatic zones — tropical and subtropical. The swimming season opens in May and lasts until October. During this period, the least amount of precipitation falls, calm weather prevails, the sea is calm, and a storm rarely occurs. In July and August it becomes especially hot. Air temperature exceeds +40°C. In August, it sometimes storms.
