Sousse beach

The beaches of Sousse, one of Tunisia's most popular resorts, are located along the city's coastline and extend beyond its borders.

Beach description

It's always crowded and quite dirty on the municipal beaches in summer. There are many locals among the holidaymakers. Hotel beaches differ in purity of coastal waters and territory covered with fine white sand. Entry into the water is sloping gently. The bottom is sandy. The sea is calm.

Most popular beaches include:

  • Port El Kantaoui on the shore of Hammamet Bay;
  • Boujaafar near the Medina;
  • Las Vegas next to Boujaafar.

The beaches have water and beach equipment rental centers, many restaurants, bars and cafes. There is an opportunity to ride a banana boat, catamaran, water skiing, go parasailing.

The resort attracts tourists from France, Germany, Russia. Sousse has an abundance of sights and an excellent tourist infrastructure. Amusement parks, night clubs, dancing, restaurants, billiard rooms are concentrated in the northern part of the city.

Holidaymakers with children should visit Aqua Palace water park, an ostrich farm, Hannibal Park amusement park.

You can get to Sousse from the airports of Monastir (20 km), Enfidha (30 km by shuttle, intercity bus or by train).

When is it better to go

Tunisia is located in two climatic zones — tropical and subtropical. The swimming season opens in May and lasts until October. During this period, the least amount of precipitation falls, calm weather prevails, the sea is calm, and a storm rarely occurs. In July and August it becomes especially hot. Air temperature exceeds +40°C. In August, it sometimes storms.
