Polis beach

Located in the northwest of Ithaca, two kilometers from the city of Stavros. This is one of the few organized beaches on the island where you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, relax in a coastal cafe and have fun on water rides. The polis is equipped with toilets, showers and changing rooms, there is a rental point for sports equipment.

Beach description

The beach is surrounded by dense vegetation, in the shade of which you can wait for the heat and have a picnic. On the left side of the bay there is a small fishing harbor, and on the north side of the bay there is the unique Loizos cave, a place of worship ancient antique gods.

Despite its impressive size, polis is always lively and crowded. The main contingent is young people who are attracted by the relaxed atmosphere of calm rest and fun. Here you can drive from the pier, explore the coastal cliffs with a mask, take a fascinating boat trip or canoe ride, and spend time in the coastal tavern.

A convenient road leads to the beach from Stavros, which can be reached on foot, by bicycle or car. On the way, you can admire the surrounding scenery and take a lot of impressive photos.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
