Agio Ioannis Porto is a beach in a resort town on the shores of the Aegean Sea. It is famous for its luxurious hotels in the area, impeccable cleanliness, warm and crystal clear waters. Beach description

Agios Ioannis Porto Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Tinos Island, very cosmopolitan, located in 7 km from the city of Tinos. There, you will find beach bars, taverns, and stores. A picturesque chapel standing on the beach left side is one of Agios Ioannis sights.

Agio Ioannis is a quiet town, cozy in a provincial way. It is covered with traditional Greek houses with stone and white fretwork surface. It is decorated with neat fields, tropical trees, stone fences, and green mountain hills. But the main treasure of this place is a long sand beach stretching for more than 4 km.

Soft light brown sand with some stones is typical for Agio Ioannis beach. Tourists with sensitive feet are recommended to wear sandals, or choose the central beach sections (with better covering). 10 meters away from the beach, there is a park area that is perfect for hiking, cycling, and having friendly picnics.

From Agio Ioannis beach, a wonderful view of rocks, green bay, and rare tourist ships open. In order to enjoy even more beautiful landscapes, climb one of local rocks. Well-used tourist tracks lead to them. Local mountains are not only magnificent but also play the role of protectors from north winds.

Agio Ioannis Beach is distinguished by shallow waters - depth starts 5-10 meters away from water edge. This place is loved by families with children, loving couples, and "lazy tourists". Pay attention to: it is very calm and quiet here. Party goers who love noisy bars and all-night-long parties are recommended to select a different place.

The beach offers the guests the following leisure variants:

  1. taste-off of Greek dishes and Mediterranean cocktails;
  2. slow hiking along the beach and the tourist village;
  3. swimming in warm crystal clear water;
  4. climbing on gentle hills and mountain tops;
  5. surfing, diving, and snorkeling;
  6. sea tours and excursions along the Greek coast.

The beach is well-equipped: it is equipped with alleys, trash bins, pointers, and water closets. The road with thick asphalt covering leads there. The village buildings and infrastructure are also in excellent condition.

Agio Ioannis is a very popular place. Tourists from Australia, the USA, Eastern and Western Europe come here for vacations. By 10 AM, tourists take the best sling chairs by bars. But due to the beach large size, it will always have room. The only disadvantage of the beach are algae covering the beah after the storms. Fortunately, they appear rather seldom and get cleaned very fast.

Interesting fact: In the neighboring bay, Agios Sostis is situated - another quiet, calm, and well-equipped beach. One can get there on feet in 5-15 minutes.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
