Santa Margarita beach

The beach owes its name to the Catholic Church, located immediately behind it. Some vacationers make it a must for their cultural program. Only, except for a swimsuit, you need to take care of additional clothing.

Beach description

It is a quiet and calm beach in the eastern part of the island that seldom has crowds of tourists. It is situated 15,5 km from Hora and 4,5 km from Steni village. It is rather long but it has very little natural shadow. Due to the fact that the beach is not equipped, it also has no sun umbrellas, so tourists have to take them.

The beach is sandy, with some stones and rocks appearing from below sand. they also occur in water but, due to good bottom visibility, it's not hard to see them. Depth is good, the bottom is not shallow but its depth doesn't increase sharply at the same time. Waves are small here due to rocks that block strong winds. As santa Margarita is isolated from the civilized world, you should take your own water, drinks and food.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
