Makronissos beach

Makronissos Beach is two beaches under the general name, one of which is more crowded and open to the winds, the other - smaller and quieter. Even Cypriots rate it as the best place in Cyprus, characterized by white sand and incredibly clear waters. Those who come to Ayia Napa choose Makronissos for its tranquility and simultaneous proximity to civilization.

Beach description

The cape, pushed into the sea in the form of the tail of a dolphin or a mermaid, was once a reef. Now it is a vacation spot for families with children and all other categories of tourists. Here delightedly delve into the deep, gentle sand, not only children but adults as well. The edge of the coast is a real exhibition of sand and construction work from the Easter cakes to the monumental castles.

Some vacationers relax under the even rows of umbrellas, some bask in a warm transparent water not far from the hollow shore that goes into the sea. Others engage in water sports, ride "donuts", "bananas", explore the bottom near Makronissos, stone formations at some distance from it.

When is it better to go?

The holiday season begins in Cyprus at the end of April, when the water in the sea warms up enough to feel comfortable for swimming. June – is the most comfortable month for relaxation: the temperature is pleasant, up to 26 to 30 degrees, the sea breeze freshes and tones up. In July-August, the island becomes too thick and glowing, but in September-October, comfortable conditions turn back again.

In order to purchase authentic souvenirs, it is better to travel to neighboring villages. In Paralimni Tourists buy clay products. Liopetri is famous for its wickerworkers. If you arrive without an organized excursion, the prices will be much lower. Also, wine production is worth a search in the villages, here it is much tastier.

The entertainment venues that are diverse in theme and music are to be found on Ayia Napa Club Street. At local stores that open from 8.00, a break lasts from 13.00 to 16.00. On weekdays, they close at 19.00, on Sunday - an hour earlier. On holidays, visitors are not welcome here at all, or stores are open only in the morning.
