Karavostasi beach

Karavostasi is a huge sandy beach 7 kilometers from the resort village of Perdika. This is a popular place where sand is mixed with pebbles, and in the evenings you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. It is framed by high rocky hills, overgrown with green pines and cypresses - all together creates a beautiful landscape. Translated from Greek, "Karavostasi" means "the place where the ships stop."

Beach description

In spite of its popularity, Karavostasi is seldom overcrowded. It is situated at a distance from large cities, like Sivota or parga, so it will never gather crowds. Visitors value it for calmness, relaxed atmosphere, soft sand and picturesque views that will look perfect on a picture. It should be kept in mind that the depth increases rather sharply here, so kids may feel not very convenient.

There is basic infrastructure, like sling chairs and umbrellas, together with several taverns sparsed in the beach vicinity. There are places to stay for a night. Just 700 meters southwards from Karavostasi, there are ruins of the ancient Greek city of Elina, now called Dimokastro. From this place, you can see the site the battle at Sibot Islands taht was one of the reasons why Peloponnesian war was started.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
