Valtos beach

This beach in the northwestern part of Greece occupies an open coastline of about 3 km. The site is not fenced with cliffs or greenery, so if you want to return from a vacation with a chocolate tan, this is the place that will help fulfill your dream.

Beach description

The beach is located near Parga, however, it is considered urban. Walk here from the city - 20 minutes. The road to the beach is quite scenic - through the ruins of Venetian fortress. However, you can get there by car (parking is nearby), bicycle and even boat.

It is worth noting that Valtos Beach is not the single beach in Parga. Krioneri beach is much closer to the city center, it is filled with vacationers even more than Valtos, although the latter is considered to be quite crowded.

Valtos is a sandy and pebble beach, therefore, you don't need to take special shoes with you. You can walk along the shore and enter the water barefoot - the entrance is gentle, without "surprises".

From May to the end of September there are a lot of tourists on the shore. This is not surprising, because from the city (the concentration of the hotels and nightlife) here you can get by foot, and the beach is equipped with everything necessary for a civilized vacation and vivid entertainment.

Besides, Valtos has been awarded the Blue Flag award. But vacationers note that due to the large influx of tourists, garbage is still found, especially on the edge of the beach. The local cafes monitor for the central part.

Whereas the beach is in a secluded bay - the sea is calm, without "disturbance".

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure

Since the beach is crowded and is located near Parga, its territory is well equipped. There are always free trestle beds with umbrellas, because they are spread over the entire area of the beach, and their number is designed for a large influx of people.

There are restaurants and cafes, bars and shops on the territory, as well as nearby. Nearby you can rent a comfortable room in a local hotel or apartment. Foe example, Parga Beach Resort is the four-star hotel. It will satisfy even the most demanding vacationers.

The conditions for snorkeling in Valtos are not suitable. The fact is that the bottom is sandy, so when you dive, everything is turbid. And there are not many fish and other sea inhabitants here. Valtos has rather unimpressive underwater landscapes, but the beach offers a wide range of other attractions.

Water skiing, windsurfing, diving, scuba diving (if you sail away from the coast) are especially popular. You can go on a fascinating tour along the coast on a rented boat.

Useful information

  1. There is a lifeguard team on the beach. This should reassure those who are afraid of water, as well as parents who have come to rest with their children.
  2. If you get bored of lying on a sun longer and want diverse photos, you can take a walk to the ruins of the Venetian castle, which is located on a hill just behind the beach.
  3. Please note that here you will not be able to retire and enjoy the silence. Valtos is crowded not only on land but also in the water: a place near the beach is occupied by "banana", "pills", powerboats and boats. But if tou are in favor of a bright and eventful vacation, you will definitely like it here.
