Lichnos beach

The fragrance of olive groves, majestic cliffs rising from the sea, and the clear azure waters of the Ionian Sea, coupled with developed infrastructure, all await guests at Lichnos Beach. If you're staying in Parga and yearn for peace and tranquility by the sea, Lichnos Beach is the perfect choice! It's not as crowded or noisy as the city beach or Valtos, yet it offers the same level of cleanliness and amenities. This idyllic spot is ideal for those who cherish harmony with the natural world while enjoying comfortable conditions for relaxation.

Beach description

Lichnos Beach, a pebbly gem just 2 km from Parga, offers a unique experience. The fine and smooth pebbles provide a natural foot massage, promoting wellness for both foot and internal organs. So, take your time and enjoy the sensation - there's no need to rush for your rubber shoes as you stroll along the shore.

Planning a family trip? Remember to pack your children's favorite toys. The pebble-covered beach may not cater to their sandcastle-building aspirations, but it offers other avenues for fun. Keep in mind, though, that while the shoreline slopes gently, the water deepens abruptly beyond 3 meters, necessitating close supervision of young swimmers.

The crystal-clear waters invite exploration. With visibility extending to the sea floor, don't forget to bring a snorkeling mask to uncover the underwater marvels.

Reaching Lichnos Beach is convenient, with multiple options available:

  • Take a scenic hike across the hill from Parga. Allocate at least an hour for this journey, and wear sturdy rubber shoes to navigate the rocky terrain comfortably.
  • Opt for a water taxi from Parga, available for 10 euros.
  • Drive yourself with a rented car, hail a taxi, or enjoy the breeze on a bike.

Upon arrival, you can find parking at one of the nearby restaurant lots.

Seasoned travelers note that August, the peak season, sees Lichnos Beach bustling with activity. Arriving early is advisable to secure a prime spot. Outside of August, the beach still attracts a considerable number of tourists, though fewer than at Valtos or the city beach.

When is the best time to visit?

The Ionian coast of Greece, with its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, is a prime destination for a beach vacation. Determining the best time to visit depends on what you're looking for in your holiday experience.

  • Peak Season (July-August): For those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and don't mind the crowds, the peak summer months are ideal. The weather is hot and sunny, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. However, this is also the busiest time, so expect higher prices and crowded beaches.
  • Shoulder Season (May-June & September-October): If you prefer milder temperatures and fewer tourists, the shoulder months are the best choice. The sea remains warm enough for swimming, and the reduced number of visitors makes for a more relaxed experience. Additionally, accommodation and flight prices tend to be lower.
  • Off-Season (November-April): For those who aren't focused on beach activities, the off-season offers cool weather and solitude. While it's not suitable for typical beach vacations, it's perfect for exploring the coastal towns without the summer rush.

In conclusion, the ideal time for a beach vacation on the Ionian coast is during the shoulder season, when the balance between weather, pricing, and tourist density is just right.

Useful information

  1. There is a special camping area on Lichnos Beach! In the shade of an olive grove, with a magnificent view of the sea, you can set up your own or rented tent and enjoy not only daytime landscape, but also sea sunsets. Add to that you will be able to save on renting a hotel room.
  2. Near the beach there is a small mini market. However, the prices in it are quite high – a sunblock costs about 20 euro. Therefore, it is better to take basic necessities with you, having previously bought them in Parga at a more reasonable price.
  3. Lichnos offers ideal conditions for fishing enthusiasts. Firstly, the fish swim right on the beach. You can step aside from vacationers, closer to the cliffs, and try fishing right on the beach. Secondly, pedalos and boats are rented on the beach on which you can sail away, and at the same time take an entertaining boat trip to the famous "Aphrodite's Cave", where, according to legend, the goddess of beauty and love bathed.
