Souvala beach

The beach is located in the northernmost part of Aegina island, ten kilometers from the capital. Nearby is the busy port town of Suval, whose name comes from special containers for storing water carved into the rocks. Previously, they were used as baths with mineral water coming from a source nearby. Suvala is now famous for its thermal spas, which are considered one of the best in Europe.

Beach description

The city beach is located in a small cozy bay next to the harbor. The coast is covered with soft golden sand, the bottom is also sandy. The sea in this place is shallow, very warm and crystal clear, despite the presence of the port. This makes the beach extremely attractive for resting with small children, who can spend hours, splashing in an impromptu natural “paddling pool”.

Visually, the beach is divided into several areas. The central part is the noisiest and busiest, equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, here is the shallowest sea and a comfortable entry into the sea.

On the right side, a small green grove descends to the coast, where it is possible to wait out the heat, enjoying the saving shadow and cicadas singing. The entry into the water is less comfortable (rocks and boulders are found in the sea), but it is possible to dive from the pier.

On the left, the shore is gradually becoming more open, rocky and windy, and you can see many surfers here.

Next to Souvala, to the right of the port, there are two more wonderful sandy beaches – Loutra and Vagia, to which you can walk by right along the coast. The whole way will take no more than twenty minutes, and on the way you'll meet wonderful landscapes that you'll want to capture.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
