Laskovyi beach

Laskovy Beach, located in the village of Solnechnoye, stands out as one of the finest, most well-maintained, and comfortable destinations for a beach vacation along the coast of the Gulf of Finland. Often likened to the beaches of Anapa for its sunny, warm, and inviting atmosphere, Laskovy Beach boasts expansive shallow waters, pristine sands, and superb infrastructure. These features have earned it the reputation of being the most beloved spot for family vacations in the vicinity of St. Petersburg.

Beach description

Laskovy Beach is the largest among all the beaches in the Resort area. Spanning approximately 1 km in length, the beach boasts a sand strip that extends up to 200 m in width. The coastline is flanked by a picturesque pine tree forest, adjacent to which lies a concrete embankment - a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll along the bay.

The shore is adorned with fine, light golden sand, and the seabed is similarly sandy, peppered with a smattering of shells. However, small stones are occasionally found along the shore, with fewer present on the southern edge of the beach, where the depth increases more rapidly than in other areas. Near the embankment, one must be mindful of sharp coniferous needles and even pine cones hidden in the sand.

Other notable features of Laskovy Beach include:

  • The water is exceptionally clean and transparent, allowing for a clear view of the sandy bottom even at considerable distances from the shore where the water is quite deep.
  • The entry into the water is gradual, with the depth reaching no more than knee-high several meters from the shore, making it an ideal spot for families with children.
  • The calm waters are a haven for water activities, but on windy days, the significant waves beckon to surfers and kiteboarders.

However, it is important to note that swimming at this beach is not recommended due to wastewater discharge into the bay, yet it is not explicitly prohibited. Consequently, during peak season, many vacationers can be seen not only lounging on the sand but also venturing into the water. It is crucial to stay within the designated safe swimming area, demarcated by buoys.

The primary drawback of Laskovy Beach is its tendency to become overcrowded, particularly in July and early August. The influx of tourists during the summer months means that even visiting on weekdays offers little respite from the bustling crowds.

Optimal Visiting Times

The best time to visit the Baltic coast of Russia for a beach vacation is during the summer months, specifically from June to August. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the seaside.

  • June - The beginning of summer brings milder temperatures and longer days, perfect for beach activities and exploring the coastal towns.
  • July - Typically the warmest month, July offers the best chance for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. The water temperature is also at its most comfortable.
  • August - While still warm, August signals the end of the peak season. Visitors can enjoy the warm weather with fewer crowds, making it ideal for a more relaxed vacation.

It's important to note that the Baltic coast can be quite unpredictable, and even during these months, the weather can change rapidly. Therefore, it's advisable to check the forecast and pack accordingly. Regardless of the month you choose, the Baltic coast's unique charm and beauty are sure to provide a memorable beach vacation.
