Playa de Muro beach

Recreation for well-to-do tourists

Playa de Muro is a good choice for lonely travelers, groups of friends, or families with children. It is situated in Alcudia Bay which is located not far from the ancient fortress town with the same name. Playa de Muro, which is the part of the large natural S'Albufera de Mallorca, is distinguished by large extension, clear transparent water and very clean air.

Beach description

Total length of the coastline of Playa de Muro is 13 kilometers, which provides an easy possibility to find a secluded place there. Along the entire length, the beach is surrounded with a thick pine forest, the trees of which bring pleasant coolness. Soft golden and white fine sand together with the green forest massive against the background of bright turquoise sea and blue sky create the matchless amosphere of serenity and calmness.

Features of Playa de Muro

  • One of the main advantages of this beach is the slightly sloping sea entry up to 200 meters long, due to which kids can have fun in shallow water.
  • Depth lovers will have to walk for a while in order to swim and to dive with comfort, but clean sandy bottom without sharp stones excludes to possibility to wound your legs, so you will not need special shoes.
  • Beware of jellyfish while staying on depth - they are not really dangerous in the Mediterranean Sea, but contact with them brings unpleasant feelings.

Playa de Muro is divided into three sectors:

  1. The sector the closest to Alcudia where the most part of the resort infrastructure objects is situated, is popular among elderly couples and families with children, and is distinguished with rather large crowds, especially in July, in the peak of high season. It is desirable to book places for recreation in advance because renting a deck chair or a sling chair with an umbrella will cost you about €15. Experienced tourists advise to buy an umbrella — you will save a considerable amount of money.
  2. The middle sector, around 2 km long, known as Es Brac or Playa de Muro II, has all the aforementioned advantages for comfortable recreation, but it is far less crowded than the first one. Couples and people who value seclusion prefer this place.
  3. The third sector, known as Es Comu, is a picturesque one and a half kilometer-long area of dunes covered with junipers. Due to the absence of buildings, this place is desert in any season, which will be highly appreciated by people who prefer secluded rest. Piny wood in this part of the beach is characterized by high density, considerably limiting the access, however, from the sides of Es Brac and Casetes des Capellans sector, Es Comu is equipped with parking lots.

When is it better to go
