Ancon beach

Ancon is a beach on the spit of the same name on the southern coast of the island of Cuba, 12 km from Trinidad of the province of Sancti Spiritus.

Beach description

Ancon - a wide sandy beach with a length of 6 km. The descent into the sea is gentle, the bottom is sandy, without sharp drops in depth. The sea is calm. The sand is small and snow-white. Ancon also has:

  • reed sunshades,
  • rental points for sunbeds and umbrellas,
  • cafes, bars and restaurants,
  • playgrounds.

It is comfortable to relax here with young children. Prices in local establishments are quite high, but you can buy snacks and drinks from peddlers or bring food with you. The best places to relax are in the central part of the beach. Ancon is extremely popular with both tourists and locals. Especially crowded at the weekend, when crowds of citizens rush to the beach. These days you can watch the colorful entertainments of Cubans, who are happy to dance and sing on the beach. The beach is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, snorkeling and parasailing.

Diving is especially popular on the beach. In the Ancona area there are about 30 dive spots. The Caribbean is characterized by a rich underwater world with unique species of coral and a variety of marine fauna. Diving centers organize dives in all available dive spots, exciting sea excursions to the coral reef and islands, as well as deep sea fishing.

When is it better to go

The most favorable time for a vacation in Cuba is the period from November to April, when the air temperature reaches + 26 °C, water – up to + 25-28 °C. The sea is calm, the probability of hurricanes is minimal.

Useful information

Not far from Ancona is the coral island of Cayo Blanco, which leads to a narrow sand platform. Here you can see the world's only black corals, forming mystical underwater labyrinths with grottoes, tunnels and underwater caves.
