Cayo Jutias beach

Cayo Jutias Beach is located on the island of the same name, which is located in the north-west of Cuba and is connected to the mainland by a dam. The pristine expanses of this beach allow guests to relax in a truly Cuban style.

Beach description

The snow-white sandy beach, caressed by turquoise waters, stretched for 3 km. This is enough to accommodate everyone, allowing them to feel free and comfortable.

You can go 30-40 m deep into the sea, and the bottom still does not go under your feet – the slope of the coast is so smooth. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico, washing Cayo Jutias, will surprise you with its warmth and tranquility. On a quiet summer day, there are practically no waves.

A large number of tiny crabs live on the beach, which can be watched for hours. Another wildlife attraction is the collection of hundreds of starfish at the far end of the beach. Individual individuals reach gigantic proportions.

Sandy areas of the coastline are combined with pine forests and mangroves. In some places, dried trees have turned into exquisite natural installations. Some of them pull their fancifully curved branches straight out of the water, allowing you to take stunning photographs.

Not far from the beach there is a magnificent karst valley of Vinales with steep flat hills (mogote), the largest caves in Latin America and an exotic botanical garden. This region, famous for its rich ethnoculture, is under the protection of UNESCO.

When is it better to go

The most favorable time for a vacation in Cuba is the period from November to April, when the air temperature reaches + 26 °C, water – up to + 25-28 °C. The sea is calm, the probability of hurricanes is minimal.

Infrastructure

Since there are no hotels on the beach, a day trip should be considered as the only option to visit it. However, the nearest town of Vinales provides a large selection of hotels.

You can rent a pedal boat, canoe or kayak at Cayo Jutias. There is also a small dive center that rents equipment for scuba diving and other marine activities, as well as organizes excursions to 7 dive sites located nearby.

Beach amenities include:

  • rent of sun loungers and umbrellas;
  • water closets;
  • shower stalls;
  • parking lot.

Guests are served by a single restaurant. It opens for lunch and offers inexpensive economy dishes (seafood, fish, grilled chicken, sandwiches), which in an idyllic atmosphere seem very tasty. In the bar you can quench your thirst with mineral water, beer or mojito.
