Balangan beach

The beach is a half of a kilometer long shore covered with white sand and surrounded by huge coconut palms. Heavenly blue ocean with powerful rhythmical waves completes this paradise picture. So it means that Balangan is not only a prefect place for classical recreation but also a great place for surfers, the number of which is growing from year to year.

The beach is visually divided into several improvised zones, where any vacationer can choose anything they want. In western part there is a surfing school Balangan Surf Point and a sports equipment rental (board and special costume rental will cost only 5$). There are usually the highest waves which remain stable even at low tide. This is the best time to surf, the main thing is to stock up on special rubber shoes, in order not to hurt your feet on a sharp reef.

Beginners are necessary to follow instructors' advice, even advanced surfers should watch out, because there are no lifeguard and tourists can count only on themselves.

Central and eastern parts are more organized, here are a lot of traditional wooden restaurants, it's nice to wait out the heat sitting on the covered terrace or just watch the sunset. Those who wish to sunbathe can rent sunbeds and sun lounger, active sport fans can spend time on the sportsground.

It should be noted that during tides the sea goes far enough to reveal a sandy bottom with patches of coral reef overgrown with emerald moss. Especially happy at such moments children, who can play in soft tidal pools without fear of strong waves and treacherous currents.

During heavy rains reasons the ocean washes away all sand and tourists can notice numerous cells resembling golf holes. Thanks to this feature Balangan is also called "Mars beach".

Balangan is only 30 minute drive from the Denpasar international airport and 30 kilometers from the most popular Bali resorts Kuta. Tourists can get to the beach by taxi, rented car or scooter, right to the beach there leads good asphalt road. The car park is paid, located on the hill, which has a marvelous view on the neighbourhood. So it's better not to rush to go down the stairs, but to stay and enjoy the view and take some photos. The best place for photos located on the northern part of the beach, this improvised balcony is often used by newly married couples for wedding ceremonies.

When is it better to go?

The air temperature throughout the year differs little and keeps within + 28-30 degrees. In the evening and at night, it is slightly cooler, but the thermometer rarely falls below +23 degrees. The water temperature is also stable. In order to avoid the rainy season (months from December to March), it is better to visit the country from May to August.
