Suluban beach

Suluban Beach is one of the most unique beaches in the south of Bali, which is located near the village of Pecatu. Its name translates as “leaning”, which is due to the need for access to get through narrow holes in the surrounding majestic rocks, behind which this paradise is hidden. Suluban is also often called the “Blue Dot” (“Blue Spot”), due to the incredible beautiful color of its waters and its special popularity among surfers, from whom the name was given to the coast.

Beach description

The main "highlight" of Suluban beach is the presence of numerous caves and rocky arches on its coast, which give it truly surreal landscapes and make it very popular not only among connoisseurs of surfing. The colorful landscapes of the coast are complemented by clear waters of azure emerald color, dark cliffs overgrown with greenery and soft white sand with an unusual orange hue.

If you want to relax on this beautiful coast, it is worth considering the following nuances:

  • The ideal time to visit Suluban is during the low tide, when the widest sandy stretch of land is available for relaxation, and on the coast, peculiar natural pools are formed among stones and boulders.
  • Strong currents and powerful waves that often form during high tides make Suluban beach not the best place to relax with young children. The height of the local waves can reach from one to three meters. Therefore, it is better not to relax with children under 12 years old.
  • Those wishing to avoid crowds of vacationers are best to visit this beach early in the morning. But still, these places are most picturesque at sunset, when it is ideal to take colorful photos and organize romantic photo sessions.

Fenced by overhanging cliffs, Suluban is not the best place for sunbathing. But this is ideal for gliding along the waves and surfing in any of its varieties, as well as a wonderful coast for lovers of romance and lovers of unusual photo shoots.

When is it better to go?

The air temperature throughout the year differs little and keeps within + 28-30 degrees. In the evening and at night, it is slightly cooler, but the thermometer rarely falls below +23 degrees. The water temperature is also stable. In order to avoid the rainy season (months from December to March), it is better to visit the country from May to August.

Infrastructure

Suluban Beach perfectly combines wild landscapes and relatively developed infrastructure, the main concentration of which is located in close proximity to the coast.

  • Near the beginning of the stairs leading to the coast, paid parking is available.
  • Near the parking lot you can find a number of local cafes, a bar at the very entrance to the beach, as well as various souvenir stalls and a rental center for surfing equipment.
  • At the top of the cliff on the northwestern edge of the beach, there is a duty tower for rescuers who primarily monitor surfers. But there are no lifeguards on the coast itself. Therefore, during the tidal season, when powerful waves are formed, it is worthwhile to observe increased caution.

You can stay near the coast in the complex of villas Blue Point Bay Villas and Spa. Otherwise, you can choose from the many available housing options in Kuta or Jimbaran, and get to the beach from there. At the main cave leading to the beach, you can usually see a lot of tents, this is one of the main camping sites on the shore - the most budget option for accommodation on Suluban.
