Bang Rak beach

Bang Rak is a beach on the North of Samui, also well known as "Big Buddha Beach", because on its territory there is the main attraction: statue of Big Buddha. Tourists choose this place for the ability to get some privacy and for the developed infrastructure.

Beach description

Bang Rak is a quite long beach (3km), so on its territory people can find completely different landscapes, which together with the Laem Mai Kaen and picturesque pier draw an incredibly beautiful picture.

The quality of Bang Rak Beach may vary depending on the area, which is worth considering when choosing a holiday destination. There are three areas: Western, Eastern and Central Bank Rak. Golden sand of Western part smoothly turns into greyish white sand on the East. West of Bang Rak is sparsely populated and quite abandoned, so there is the largest accumulation of stones and especially debris. Moving to the center, the beach becomes cleaner and nicer, there is an infrastructure. The Western and Eastern parts of Bang Rak are shallow and muddy, which is not true of the Central part with a sandy and clean entrance to the water. However the calm holiday can be bothered by numerous boats.

Tides can be a problem on the Northern and Eastern parts of the beach, and in the Center the sea is less susceptible to this influence. Waves are a rare occasion here, but the water is still unclear.

When is it better to go

The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
