Anaxos Ampelia beach
The sandy beach of Anaxos Ampelia is one of the best beaches on the island of Lesbos. Usually it is quite deserted, but in the summer it is a busy tourist center. Beach description
Anaxos Ampelia is located on the southern coast of Lesbos near the village of the same name. The 700 meters long coastline is covered with sand mixed with small pebbles, which are replaced by a soft sandy bottom when entering the water. Descent is gentle, waves are small, the weather is almost windless throughout the summer.
In the low season there are not many umbrellas and sunbeds here, so if they are busy, it is possible to hide in the shade of the trees that grow along the beach on its western and eastern sides. At the end of the summer, Anaxos Ampelia is much more crowded, there are more lying places, changing cabins appear on the beach. Nearby there are taverns where you can enjoy freshly caught fish in traditional Greek cuisine.
You can get to the beach from Philia by car or taxi: it won't take you more than 15-20 minutes to get there. By giving your preference to Anaxos Ampelia Beach, you will be completely delighted with the hospitable atmosphere that you can feel in every corner of the beach.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
