Gavathas beach

Gavathas (Gavathas) is located in the north of the island of Lesbos in the same name of a lost village. This is one of the calmest and least crowded beaches. The coast here is sandy and pebble, the descent into the water is convenient with a gradual depth, and the sea is warm and transparent.

Beach description

Gavathas village inhabitants have been trying to make a tourist center of the village, but there are still very few beach vacationers. However, it cannot be said that there is no infrastructure on the beach: it is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, cans and changing cabins. Near the beach, there is a small tavern, where you can have a meal and hide from the sun.

In Gavathas you can see families and couples, young people, single travelers, as well as tourists who are tired of having a pastime, and prefer clear sandy beachline and a secluded atmosphere. The beach is suitable for vacation with children.

The best way to get to the beach of Gavathas by rented car or taxi. Besides bathing and getting vitamin D, history lovers can walk to the church and get to know with local architectural style.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
