Sigri beach
The most western beach of the island, located at the village of the same name. Due to the lack of ferry connections with the mainland, this beautiful resort is relatively deserted, and the prices here are probably the most budget ones on the island. Until the 90s, the NATO naval base was located in these places, which also did not contribute to the influx of holidaymakers.
In Sigri, you can always easily find housing for every taste and budget, and the absence of sweltering heat even in high season makes rest in these places pleasant and comfortable.

Beach description
Sigri has a unique curved shoreline and is divided into several zones. The city zone is a small sandy beach with all the needed conveniences. A wonderful view of an ancient Turkish temple opens up from here.
Beautiful "wild" beaches where visitors can dive and snorkel, fish and rest in full solitude are located on the right and the left side of the village. Faneromeni is the and biggest and most well-known out of them, 1,5 km of wild uncrowded shore where high winds are frequent.
Breeze is typical for Sigri, so even during the high season of Summer it remains cool and comfortable unlike the rest of "melting" Lesbos. Winds grow high closer to September, so surfers flock to this place during early Autumn. There aren't many surfers here however as only one surfing center operates in the village.
Despite the wind little to no waves can be encountered thanks to the Nissiopi Island that blocks them from the sea. That long stretch of land is almost uninhabited and has nothing besides some fossilized trees of weird shapes and the lighthouse that points to the bay.

Infrastructure
While staying on the municipal beach, you can make a light meal in a small restaurant, have a fresh water wash, relax in the tree shadow and watch yachts and motor boats entering the bay
On the pier, there is a tavern called Cavo di Oro, one of the best local taverns. Here, you can taste delicious food both of local and Italian cuisine.

The main attraction of Sigri is the fortress, built by the Turkish sultan Mehmet to protect the harbor and is well preserved to this day. Its massive walls offer magnificent views of the surrounding area.
In the village, you can see the church of Agia Triad and the old Turkish hammam, unfortunately, now inoperative.
And just above Sigri there is a natural history museum where you can see particles of petrified trees that are several million years old, and many other ancient artifacts.
