Skala Kallonis beach

The long beach Skala Kallonis, which is located in the bay of Kallonis on the west coast of the island of Lesbos, is the main beach of the town of the same name. It is covered with sand and is sufficiently equipped for lovers of a comfortable stay and quite secluded for those who want to spend time in peace and quiet.

Beach description

The length of the beach is 2 kilometers, it is located between the estuaries of two rivers. Skala Kallonis divides the harbor with the berth, where many boats and motor boats are moored. The beach is sandy and the bottom is very shallow for a couple of tens of meters, so this place is ideal for swimming with children. They are frequent guests on the beach - locals like to spend the weekend with their families, so even a half-empty beach sometimes looks lively. The rocky areas of the beach are covered with silt, where hermit crayfish can hide, so it will be good to put on special slippers for swimming.

The sun loungers are free on the beach, there are several taverns and bars, and in the city, you can easily find accommodation. This beach is suitable for families, who want to rest in a quiet and secluded place with amenities.\

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
