Bollullo beach

Bollullo is a remote natural black sand beach in the north part of the island in the Orotava region.

Beach description

There are no buildings nearby, only banana plantations. The nearest residential area is at least a kilometer. The beach does not have much infrastructure, as it is located away from large roads and paths. Local residents come here, although swimming here is quite dangerous, and even more so with children. There are often strong waves in Bollullo, and coastal currents that are unpredictable are also dangerous. On the beach, during the summer season, you can find a tent with soft drinks and a light snack. The entrepreneurial vein of the local population has worked. The length of the beach is quite large, about 400 meters, and almost 50 meters deep.

You can get to the beach by car along the northern TF-5 highway to the signpost Puerto de La Cruz-El Rincón. Further towards El Rincon. You can park your car in a local car park for 1.5 €. Then down past the banana plantations to the beach. In the rocks along the road to the beach there is a chapel in which small wooden crosses are made of local wood.

When is it better to go

In Tenerife, you can relax all year round, but the most comfortable months for a beach holiday are July, August and September. In winter, the island is prone to precipitation and strong winds. The temperature of the ocean all year round is around +21 °C.
