Camison beach

Youth party zone

Las Americas, home to the stunning Camison Beach, stands as one of Tenerife's most sought-after destinations. Despite its modest size, the beach brims with visitors during peak season, a testament to its allure. This popularity is largely due to the protective stone breakwaters that tame the ocean's might, ensuring tranquil waters for beachgoers to enjoy.

Beach description

Camison Beach may not be the largest, with a length of approximately 400 meters and a breadth of 50 meters, but its charm is undeniable. The tranquil waters, gentle sea entry, and even, flat seabed make it an ideal destination for families with children. Interestingly, Camison is an artificial creation, with sand imported from the Sahara. This gives the beach a unique light gray color with a golden tint, rather than the typical yellow of natural beaches. The beach derives its name from the cape that delineates it from the surrounding areas.

A picturesque palm-lined promenade skirts the edge of the beach, offering a delightful spot for a leisurely morning or evening walk. During the summer months, the beach comes alive with a variety of water attractions. Visitors can enjoy catamaran rides, boating, jet skiing, and even banana boating. For those interested in exploring underwater, there is diving equipment available and a diving school catering to beginners. The vicinity is bustling with nightlife, featuring an array of nightclubs, restaurants, a golf club, and shops. Las Americas is renowned for being the most vibrant party zone, where one can dance the night away until dawn. This area is predominantly favored by the youth. However, families with children also choose to stay here, provided they don't mind the lively atmosphere. Thanks to the consistently stable weather throughout the year, Camison Beach is a popular spot for tourists from across the globe.

Optimal Time for a Visit

Best Time for a Beach Vacation in Tenerife

Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary Islands, is a year-round destination for beach lovers due to its mild climate. However, for the ideal beach vacation, certain times of the year stand out.

  • Late Spring (May to June): Before the summer crowds arrive, the weather is warm, and the sea temperatures are comfortable for swimming.
  • Summer (July to September): This is peak season, with hot weather and warm sea temperatures, perfect for sunbathing and water activities.
  • Early Autumn (October): The weather remains warm, but the island is less crowded, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.

While the winter months are cooler, they are still suitable for those who prefer mild temperatures and quieter beaches. Ultimately, the best time to visit Tenerife for a beach vacation depends on your preference for heat, crowds, and water activities.

Infrastructure

Umbrellas and sun loungers are available for a reasonable fee of €6 per pair, and you'll also find convenient showers and changing cabins. However, it's important to note that facilities for the disabled are not provided. Nestled near the beach are both upscale hotels, with accommodation prices starting at €200, and a variety of apartments that offer a more budget-friendly option.
