Beach description
Even on a hot day, strong winds blow from the ocean near the Medano beach. Kitesurfer sails scurry overhead. Windsurfers rush along the waves, cutting the surface. There is quite a strong wave, so the beach is not suitable for small children. But life in the town is cheaper than in other resorts in the southern part of the island.
Medano is the only natural beach of the island with natural light sand, as the natural color of the beaches is black or graphite gray. The length of the beach strip is only 160 meters, and in depth it goes 40 meters. There is also an open shower, but rinsing under it with such a wind is not easy. A strong wind splatters water. Sun beds and umbrellas are the cheapest here - at 2 €. Nearby there are cafes and restaurants where you can taste the wonderful deep-fried octopus and many other delicious seafood dishes. The beach is popular with locals and visitors - lovers of strong winds and good waves. There is a nudist beach nearby.
When is it better to go
In Tenerife, you can relax all year round, but the most comfortable months for a beach holiday are July, August and September. In winter, the island is prone to precipitation and strong winds. The temperature of the ocean all year round is around +21 °C.
