Las Vistas beach

The most democratic beach in Tenerife

During the summer season, Las Vistas beach becomes a bustling paradise, with scarcely room for an apple to fall along its nearly kilometer-long stretch of golden sand. Perhaps it's the allure of the natural sand, gently washed ashore by the sea, that beckons so invitingly. Or maybe it's the beach's prime location in Los Cristianos, which, along with the neighboring Playa de las Américas, ranks among the most sought-after tourist destinations. To the left, a sturdy breakwater shields a quaint local port, a launch point for yachts, pleasure crafts, and boats. The gentle slope leading into the tranquil ocean waters makes this spot particularly appealing for families with children.

Beach description

The hallmark of Las Vistas is a fountain powered by sea waves, situated right at the heart of the beach. Few beaches can boast such a unique feature. The approach to the sea is gentle, and with a beachfront stretching nearly 150 meters, there's ample space for all the beach industry has to offer. From an inflatable water park to banana boat rides and jet skiing, to the thrill of paragliding above the sands, there's no shortage of excitement. However, it's important to note that water activities are only available during the summer season. Thanks to the tranquil waters along the shore, countless children delight in frolicking and splashing in the shallow waves.

Nearby Los Cristianos offers an abundance of restaurants and cafes, while a broad promenade caters to the evening pursuits of those seeking an active nightlife. This area is renowned for its inclusivity, nestled between the chic Del Duke and the vibrant Los Americas, seamlessly transitioning from one ambiance to another. Accessibility is a priority here, with wide, gently sloping ramps and wooden walkways ensuring that individuals with disabilities can enjoy their time at the beach. There are even complimentary wheelchairs designed for aquatic use available. Notably, Las Vistas has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag in recognition of its exceptional water quality and well-maintained beach infrastructure.

Optimal Time for a Visit

Best Time for a Beach Vacation in Tenerife

Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary Islands, is a year-round destination for beach lovers due to its mild climate. However, for the ideal beach vacation, certain times of the year stand out.

  • Late Spring (May to June): Before the summer crowds arrive, the weather is warm, and the sea temperatures are comfortable for swimming.
  • Summer (July to September): This is peak season, with hot weather and warm sea temperatures, perfect for sunbathing and water activities.
  • Early Autumn (October): The weather remains warm, but the island is less crowded, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.

While the winter months are cooler, they are still suitable for those who prefer mild temperatures and quieter beaches. Ultimately, the best time to visit Tenerife for a beach vacation depends on your preference for heat, crowds, and water activities.

Infrastructure

The beach has everything you need for a perfect vacation: sunbeds and umbrellas at a pair for 6€, and a safe for storing valuables at 1€. Vigilant lifeguards are on duty throughout the day. However, due to the stone moles that protect the bay from strong waves, they seldom have much work to do.

In the area, there are numerous four- and five-star hotels nearby, such as Hotel Cleopatra Palace and Hotel Mediterranean Palace. Prices start at 150€ per day, but more affordable apartments can be found in the vicinity. Along the beach strip, there are many eateries, bars, and restaurants offering Mediterranean and European cuisine. Just one hundred meters from the beach is a McDonald's. Numerous shops and souvenir stores abound, and the Vista Sur shopping center is located near the beach. It should be noted that parking spaces may be scarce during the high season, and you might have to park a kilometer away from the beach area.

On the beach, amenities include:

  • Outdoor showers
  • Toilets
  • Changing cabins
  • Facilities for the disabled
  • A team of lifeguards

What to See

In the vicinity of Los Cristianos, there are attractions to suit every taste. The most popular include:

  • The Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen
  • Monkey Park Zoo
  • Exotic Park
  • Montaña de Guaza
  • La Gomera Island

The 16th-century Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, resplendent like a bride in white, anchors the space of the old city. It welcomes not only the local congregation but also many visiting tourists.

At Monkey Park, children will delight in interacting with lemurs and green monkeys, which are accustomed to being fed by visitors. However, force-feeding the animals is discouraged as they may bite, and overfed animals tend to be less active.

Exotic Park is a complex of parks that includes Amazonia Park, with flora and fauna characteristic of the region, Eagles Park - a bird of prey reserve, Reptile Park - home to snakes and crocodiles, and Cactus Park, which is self-explanatory. Visitors can explore Exotic Park as a whole or visit each park individually, depending on their interests.

Montaña de Guaza, an extinct volcano in the Los Cristianos area, offers a climb to its summit where one can enjoy panoramic views and take memorable photos.

From a pier on a nearby beach, tourists can take a ferry to the island of La Gomera, visible from the south coast of the island. La Gomera is a vast botanical park with a plethora of exotic plants. An excursion to the island will occupy an entire day and costs at least 50€.
