Galle Face Green beach
One of the leading and most popular resorts in the country. This resort occupies leading positions in the tourist industry of Sri Lanka. The town itself, located in the southwest part of the country, is a port. You can get here from Colombo by bus or train, and moving through the town streets and the beach territory is made easy thanks to the authentic auto rickshaws.

If you come between September and March, you may enjoy not only sunbathing, but also:
- whale watching;
- bicycle riding along the whole coast;
- deep sea fishing tours;
- yoga lessons;
- enjoying wild nature in the local reserve;
- and also gaze at the architectural sights.
This beach, however, isn't covered in golden sand and doesn't have a very clean coast. Many locals visit this place, while tourists prefer to stay at the more developed resorts. And there isn't much in terms of cheap accomodation near the beach. Most of the hotels are located inside the fort. And that's exactly where many foreign tourists choose to go.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
