Yala beach

Yala is located in the southeast of Sri Lanka and is part of the Yala National Park, the biggest and most popular on the island. Among the activities here is the fascinating safari, during which you can watch exotic animals and birds in their natural habitat The park's area is modeled as a miniature copy of the whole island, with all natural landscapes of Sri Lanka present here.

Beach description

Yala Beach is absolutely wild and isn't equipped for swimming or even ordinary resort activities. A strong current flows near the coast and can easily drag unexperienced swimmers to the ocean. Special flags that warn of danger are installed on the coast here, and the area is monitored. It's prohibited to partake in water sports, start fires and set up tents here. But you can walk along the beach and feel like a "Jungle Book" character.

To get to Yala National Park, you need to drive to Tissamaharama town, located 300 km away from Colombo, and order a tour to the reserve in the local tour agency.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
