Mirissa Secret beach
This beach is located on the south coast of Sri Lanka, in the outskirts of Mirissa resort. It's located to the west of the lively town beach and will be perfect for those who prefer calm solitary relaxation. Secret Beach is a small cozy bay divided into two parts by a line of boulders. The beach is covered in golden sand with coral shards and sharp shells (slippers are necessary!).

The sea is shallow and crystal clear, with many tidal pools near the coast. The entrance is free, and those who order food and beverages in the beach bar are guaranteed a free sunbed. There's a rental store with sports equipment and fishing gear.
The beach is very picturesque and atmospheric, surrounded by a thick palm grove, the shadows of which save from the heat of the sun. You can spend the whole day here, but don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent (there are many mosquitoes in the jungle). A nice looking path leads to the beach, and you can encounter monkeys, black squirrels and other inhabitants. You can use a rickshaw if you don't fancy walking all the way.
What is the best time to come here?
The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
