Negombo beach
This resort encapsulates the soul of small fisherman villages of Sri Lanka. Lobsters, shrimps and crabs are being caught here for later selling to the fish markets. Since the underwater world is very fascinating, the main attractions here are diving and fishing. You can get here from Colombo in just one hour, and alternatively you can reach this place from the nearby Katunayake International Airport.

Beach description
The vacation here is calm and slow. You can sunbathe during the day, try the tasty cuisine in a restaurant in the evening and end the day by looking at the sunset. There are other conveniences here: souvenir shops, open cafes with music program and many more. When compared to other resorts in Sri Lanka, it doesn't get too crowded here, but occasionally a loud group of kitesurfers or romantic couples walking along the beach can be seen. The beach can be visited during numerous tours of old churches, where guides will tell you about the history of the town and why Negombo is sometimes called "Little Rome".
What is the best time to visit?
The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
