Uppuveli beach
A beautiful sandy beach with amazing palms and wide coastline is located north of Trincomalee. You can get here by bus or auto rickshaw, takes just 10-15 minutes. This is a great place for active leisure among youth, as well as swimming and sunbathing. The descent into water is quite smooth, so swimming is quite safe for children as the are no waves here.

If you want to find a solitary spot here, it's better to come during workdays, as weekends bring many tourists and locals alike. The period from May to the middle of November is considered the high season.
The nearby hotels offer conveniences and alternative activities: for example, diving centers that offer an opportunity to learn underwater swimming, as well as provide equipment. Local reefs are very popular and extremely beautiful to explore.
The infrastructure can't be called very well-developed, but several shops, cafes and bars are located near the beach. The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
