Trincomalee beach
Trincomalee is located in the northeast part of Sri Lanka, within the port town of the same name. Trincomalee is the most famous resort of Sri Lanka, visited every year by thousands of tourists from all over the world. Visitors are attracted by the endless coastline covered in white sand, clean transparent and unique turquoise sea and rich underwater world in the beach's surroundings. The gigantic bay is protected from strong winds and ocean currents, and the bay waters are calm and safe. The sun shines all year long here, and long rains are very rare.

Beach description
The city beach borders Cape Konesar Malai, with an ancient hindu temple atop of it, in the south. The entrance is free, there are several cafes and snack bars that offer the guests umbrellas and sunbeds when they order food and beverages. You can partake in windsurfing, ride water attractions, watch local fishermen and buy the newly caught fish from them here.
The Uppuveli Beach is located north of Trincomalee, about 6 km away from the town center. It's the most crowded and lively one, equipped with sunbeds, canopies and the necessary infrastructure. Many hotels and restaurants are located on the coast, and sports and culture events are held regularly.
Even further north, 12 km away from town, is the Nilaveli Beach - heaven for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. You can rent a boat here and ride to the picturesque coral islands, where you're likely to encounter sea turtles, dolphins and even whales (especially if you come from June till August).
The town bus drives to all of the beaches regularly from the town center, you can also reach here by taxi, moped or trishaw.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to travel to Sri Lanka is the period from November to April, when the weather is dry. In summer, the rainy season takes place in Sri Lanka, however, the prices this season are much lower. So if you are not afraid of rainfalls (which commonly take place at night, and by morning the ground dries up), a trip in the summer can be a great option for a budget holiday.
