Legrena beach

Legrena is a sandy beach located 60 km from the city of Athens and 3 km from Cape Sounion. On its territory there are no sunbeds, toilets and other infrastructure. Only bright blue sea, majestic cliffs and stormy greenery await vacationers.

Beach description

This place is popular among divers for the following reasons:

  • many exotic fish inhabit its waters;
  • the seabed of Legraren is covered with variegated algae of all kinds of shades;
  • The local rocks are distinguished by interesting texture and bizarre shapes.

Lagrena is one of the most sparsely populated beaches in Greece. Here you can enjoy the birds singing, retire with loved ones, relax from the hustle and bustle of civilization. Legrena is protected from strong winds thanks to the local bay and is surrounded by clear, bright blue water. Depth gains smoothly, starting 5-10 meters from the shore.

On weekdays, the beach is almost deserted. You can not get to it by bus: the nearest stop is near Cape Sounion. The most convenient travel option is a taxi rental or a trip by personal transport.

Near the beach are the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
