Sounio beach
Sounio Beach is located 60 km from the city of Athens. Next to it there is the ancient sanctuary of Poseidon, erected during the Greek-Persian wars. Also in this place there are several mountain peaks, dense forests, luxurious forks. The beach is popular among local historians, divers, family couples and youth. At the height of the season, a lot of tourists rest here.

The sea on Sunio is calm, the sand is soft, perfectly clean, you can safely walk on it barefoot. A smooth set of depth will delight tourists who come with young children, and calm weather and weak waves will only complement the picture of an ideal family vacation.
On the seashore there is a Greek tavern and a restaurant, where on hot noon you can taste national Greek dishes as well as cool off with a glass of beer. The beach is equipped with sunbeds, places for changing clothes, sun umbrellas and toilets. Rescuers monitor vacationers from the tower.
Earlier on Cape Sunio stood two shrines: the temple of Poseidon (a ticket which will cost you 15 euros) and the temple of Athena. Unfortunately, the second building was destroyed during the Middle Ages.
The beach can be reached by bus from Athens. They also get here by personal transport or taxi.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
