Hovolo beach

In the west of Skopelos island there is the beach of Hovolo: a secluded place, the road to which is a narrow pebble path between the cliffs and the sea. A long way is worth the effort: at the end you will find an incredibly picturesque beach in all its pristine natural beauty.

Beach description

Snow-white pebble, azure water, steep cliffs covered with green shrubs - all this you will find on Holovo. To get here, you have to drive or walk along the road from Neo Klima village. The road ends almost at the very sea, after which you have to walk along a narrow path of several hundred meters along the cliffs and the sea, bypassing frequent boulders. While walking you can admire the small caves and groves formed in the cliffs. You'll reach Holovo at the end of the journey: a small beach, which, despite its difficult accessibility, is often overcrowded.

The main advantage of the beach is its picturesque scenery: fine pebble ( on the coast and at the bottom), deep blue water, high cliffs. Here you rest in the sun and explore the area in search of secret caves. There is no infrastructure - food, umbrellas and sun loungers, or towels - should be taken care of in advance. There is no other way to get here than on foot on the path, but all the difficulties will pay off.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
