Milia beach

One of the most picturesque beaches of Skopelos is Milia, a long, curved sandy strip on the west coast of the island. Organized and sunny, Milia attracts many people, both tourists and locals. It is easy to relax and get a vivid impression, plunging into the atmosphere of the hot Greek summer.

Beach description

Milia is the most longest beach on the island and, according to some reports, it is the most visited. It is not wide, sandy and pebble, with a gentle descent into the water, ideal for vacation with kids. High pine trees grow very close by, casting shadows and giving the air a healing freshness. From the shore you can see the small island of Dassia, which can be reached by boat.

The beach is divided on two parts by the large boulder looking out of the water (the greate place for snorkeling). Its southern part is more lively: probably because there is a beach bar closer to it; the north side is more quite and secluded. The infrastructure here is well established: there are umbrellas and sun loungers, even lifeguards are on duty nearby. It is easy to get to Milia from the island's capital: the road will take no more than 13 kilometers.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
