Kanapitsa beach

Kanapitsa in the south of Skiathos is a suitable place for a quiet and relaxing holiday. This beach is good for its atmosphere of tranquility and silence, which will appeal to those who wish to relax from the hectic activities. Tourists will appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and leisurely rhythm of life.

Beach description

The beach is very narrow, therefore, Kanapitsa fills up quickly, even though it is not one of the most popular on the island. If you want to sunbathe, you should avoid the northern part of the island: it is very early in the afternoon when the shadow of the hills and trees begins to fall on it, so you won't be able to enjoy the sun. Kanapitsa is covered with coarse sand and the coast descents into the water, forming a gentle entrance. The disadvantage of the beach is the place is quite windy, which creates strong waves, so it will be difficult for children and non-swimmers here.

For active tourists on the beach there is a water sports school, where you can learn diving, surfing, water skiing and jet skiing. Infrastructure is developed, you can easily find a place for a meal and for an overnight stay for your taste and budget. You can get to Kanapitsa by a car from Skiathos.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
