Stafylos beach

Stafylos is a crowded beach located in the vicinity of Skopelos. It is known for its rocky terrain, magnificent landscapes, and well-developed infrastructure. People also come here for the sake of warm and sky-blue water, clean air, delicious dishes and drinks. Finally, this place is distinguished by good transport accessibility, a large number of trees and perfect cleanliness (it has the Blue Flag award).

Beach description

Stafilos is located in a large bay, protected from wind and waves. It is surrounded by majestic cliffs, coniferous forests, bizarre boulders. There is a large village with supermarkets, restaurants, playgrounds and rest areas near it. There are boutiques, fashionable hotels, a bus stop and about a dozen small shops.

The surface of the beach is covered with sand, shingle and small stones. For comfortable movement along the coast slippers with a thick sole will be necessary. On the other hand, a huge number of beautiful shells and pebbles are concentrated here. Also, the surface of the sea is decorated with huge boulders, from which it is convenient to observe local fish.

Staphylos is characterized by a smooth depth increase, it is possible to let children in here without fear. But for comfortable swimming protective shoes are necessary - sea urchins and sharp rocks are found at the bottom of the sea. They are clearly visible through the crystal clear water, so it will be difficult to get hurt. There is an excellent views of the wooded bay, the nearest islands and tourist liners from the sea coast.

Stafilos is the most popular beach of Skopelos. It is filled with people before the start of the season and "becomes empty" in the last weeks of autumn. Families, youth, naturalists and divers spend their time here. 90% of this audience rests near the entry to the beach, as well as in its central part. There are sunbeds, umbrellas, soft sand and a smooth entry into the sea. There is almost no infrastructure on the periphery of Stafilos. It is replaced by silence, thin population and amazing panoramas.

Interesting fact: the entire coast is named after the king of Minoan, who ruled these lands several millennia ago.

Stafilos is located 4.5 km from the capital of the island. Its length is 500 m and its width varies from 10 to 15 m. A good asphalt road leads to it, there is parking lot near the beach. From the village to the beach there is a winding road with a steep climb. Every half hour a bus from the capital of the island runs here. It is also possible to get to the beach by a taxi or water transport.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
