Kastani beach
The regularly visited Kastani beach annually attracts avid travelers from different countries and cities. It is famous not only for its wonderful conditions for relaxation - the bright sun, soft sand, fresh greenery - but also for being the place where many scenes from the american film “Mamma Mia!” were shot.

Kastani is a rather famous beach, also due to its "Hollywood" past. It is often crowded in summer, but still not as much as other popular beaches of Skopelos. This is small coast, only 50 meters long, covered with light yellow sand and found its place between two cliffs going into water. The descent to the sea, so it will be comfortable fro both adults and children. Pines and cypresses grow close to the shore, creating a natural shadow.
More recently, there was no infrastructure in Kastani, but now on the beach you can find umbrellas with sun loungers and a small tavern that serves tourists in the summer. Kastani can be easily reached by car, but you should keep in mind that there is no asphalt on the last 500 meters of the road.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
