Cua Dai beach

Located on the east coast of Vietnam, five kilometers from the ancient city of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the best beaches in the country and annually attracts crowds of tourists who want to immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of a tropical paradise. The high season in these places lasts from April to September, from October begins the period of high waves, ideal for fans of surfing and other extreme water sports. Recently, a significant part of the beach has been devastated by powerful ocean waves. To restore its original appearance, special events are held using sandbags, metal piles and special bamboo structures covered with tarpaulin, which somewhat spoils the appearance of the coast and disturbs the tranquil peace of visitors to the beach. Typically, this picture is observed in the public and wild areas of Kua Dai - near expensive hotels and elite resort areas, stone walls and breakwaters were built in advance to protect the coast from erosion.

Beach description

The giant three-kilometer coastline is covered with most gentle white sand and framed by majestic palm trees, that cast an openwork shadow on the beach. The sea is calm and warm, relatively shallow, stunning turquoise colour. The bottom is sandy, sloping, without visible sharp drops. The beach is beautifully framed by mountains, which are effectively illuminated by the rays of the setting sun in the evenings and hide in the sunset haze.

Thanks to its impressive size, it is always possible to find a comfortable place on Kua Dai, even in high season and at weekends. The main thing is to bring along a broadbrim, sunglasses and tanner, since even canopies and umbrellas are not able to completely protect against the scorching rays of the sun, reflected in small crystals of snow-white sand.

The beach provides all the conditions for a comfortable rest, it is possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds, use the shower and toilet, rent catamarans, kayaks, surfboards and other sports equipment. There are organized places for active games and a children's town with inflatable slides and trampolines. There are cafes, restaurants and beach bars right on the beach. Fresh fruits, cool drinks, sweets and souvenirs can be purchased from local merchants, scurrying about along the beach (although it’s much more expensive, than in shops and in the market).

When is the best time to go?

Since Vietnam is a country stretching from north to south, the climate in its different parts is slightly different. In the north, high humidity and temperature are observed from May to October, but in the remaining months it is slightly drier and cooler. In the South, the rainy season is  longer, lasting from may to November, but even after it ends, the humidity does not subside. Therefore, it is better to go to popular resorts in the south of the country in winter or early spring.

Infrastructure

Getting to the beach is easy. It all depends on the amount of money and amount of time that tourists are willing to spend in order to reach their destinations. The fastest and most costly is a taxi ride, from Da Nang airport it will take no more than half an hour and will cost about $ 20. A cheaper option is regular buses that head towards Hoi An. For travelers who use cars in the area of the beach there are several secure parking lots, you can also leave a motorcycle and a bicycle there.

Keeping in mind the latest developments related to the reconstruction of the beach, the most comfortable recreation areas are located around the coastal hotels that took care of the availability of breakwaters in advance. One of the most popular options is Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort & Spa, located on the first line. It offers comfortable rooms, equipped in local and European style, an outdoor pool, spa, fitness room, sun terrace, children's and sports grounds. Visitors can use the private beach, equipped with sun loungers, parasols and a minibar, as well as free parking and safes for storing valuables. A restaurant with Asian and European cuisine is located on site, barbecue and picnic areas are provided.

Useful information

Tourists coming to Cua Dai have a unique opportunity to combine a first-class beach holiday with exploring the local attractions that ancient Hoi An is rich in, the "museum-town" as the Vietnamese call it. More than eight hundred ancient buildings, which are recognized as the most valuable objects of the world historical heritage, are perfectly preserved in it. In Hoi An, you can see exotic Chinese pagodas with colorful shops and cafes on the ground floors, pretentious French colonial buildings, original Japanese patterned buildings, as well as the legendary Covered Bridge and the famous Old Town with its amazing yellow streets, intricately decorated with traditional paper lanterns.

And, of course, it is worth mentioning the famous Vietnamese shopping, which will not leave indifferent any tourist. The city has a huge number of all kinds of shops and sewing workshops, where for penny prices you can buy the latest novelties from European podiums and the best products of world brands (copies, of course).
