Afandou beach
That rare case when the beach is absolutely not suitable for quiet, measured rest, but is ideal for an active one. The features of the terrain greatly affected the suitability for swimming. Despite this major drawback, do not forget that Afandou is incredibly long. There is always free space for everyone.

Beach description
If you planned to lie on the sand and sunbathe under the rays of the Greek sun, this is definitely not your option. Instead of sand, the entire shore is pebbles, and the descent into the water is uneven. The wind often blows, the water is cool. But all this does not prevent fans to have an active rest. Clean, perfectly clear water, visible in the distance picturesque rocks. A large area which is not forgotten even at the peak of the tourists season. Knowing this, the locals prepared a large number of sports entertainment. If you drive along the coast, you can find an occupation to suit any taste: diving, surfing, golf and what's not there.
That's why this beach is suitable for activities only:
- Every meter of the beach is covered by pebble. It is inconvenient to move on barefoot or in shales, in sandals.
- Water, though perfectly clean, is not suitable for bathing. Its temperature is noticeably lower than the temperature in other places.
- The Bottom has sharp height changes. People or children who cannot swim well be seriously affected without having to notice the changes.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

An important road runs along the beach, along which there are many places where you can eat for an unusually low price. The number of services provided to those who wish to test themselves, is amazing, I think everyone will find something special for themselves. Try surfing, water skiing or maybe diving. But most likely, people who are looking for a lying holiday will not be satisfied, for water activities the beaches of Tsambika and Lindos are much better.
In the city center (a couple of kilometers inland) you can find several hotels for any budget. In the four-star Lippia Hotel and Golf Resort there is a huge outdoor swimming pool with water slides, next to it - a smaller one, for small children. The rooms are nicely furnished and equipped with everything you need. Golden Days Hotel. This accommodation is more modest, but not less cozy.Hotel Stamos is the stylish hotel in the eastern part of the city, which can provide upscale service for relatively little money.

- The vegetation along the coast is very poor, you may have to rent a sunbed with an umbrella. A pleasant breeze will not allow it to overheat, but it will not be able to protect the skin from the sun.
- There’s nothing to do with the children. There are not many children's attractions, sharp pebbles and cold water most likely will not please the child.
- At local taverns, they often organize nightly music events. To maintain the spirit and have a good time, it’s worth stopping by at least once.
- For a change, you should visit the small church of the Virgin Mary in the center of Afandou village.
