Prasonissi beach

Prasonisi Cape is located in the southern part of Rhodes Island, on the border of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. You can see the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea from Prasonisi Cape. The first is dark blue, the second has pale turquoise shades.

Beach description

It has the following peculiarities:

  • lightly manned;
  • ideal surfing conditions (strong wind and plenty of free space);
  • an old lighthouse building, stone buildings of the last century and other attractions.

Two buses run from Rhodes to Prassonissi twice a day from the company KTEL. The road takes about 3 hours and costs from 10 euros. A more expensive and convenient way to visit the cape is to rent a private vehicle (preferably an off-road vehicle).

Cape Prassonissi is popular with local and visiting surfers. On its territory there are schools for beginners and rental equipment centers. The western part of the beach (Aegean Sea) is distinguished by high waves and cold water. The eastern part (Mediterranean Sea) is more calm and warm.

IN winter, Cape Prassonissi turns into an island due to an increase in the water level. The sandy beach is formed in a warm period of the year due to the ebb. Its length is about 500 meters and its width is about 100 meters.

When is it better to go?

The best time to visit Rhodes for a beach vacation is during the late spring to early autumn period, specifically from May to October. This timeframe offers the optimal balance of warm weather, sunny skies, and comfortable sea temperatures for beach activities.

  • May to June: These months mark the beginning of the tourist season, with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. The sea might still be a bit cool for some, but the weather is generally ideal for those who prefer a more tranquil beach experience.
  • July to August: This is the peak season for Rhodes, characterized by hot temperatures and bustling beaches. It's the perfect time for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the vibrant island life. However, be prepared for higher prices and more tourists.
  • September to October: The end of the high season brings milder temperatures and a more relaxed atmosphere. The sea remains warm enough for swimming, making it an excellent time for those seeking a quieter beach holiday.

Ultimately, the best time for a beach vacation in Rhodes depends on your preferences for weather, water activities, and crowd levels. Each period offers a unique experience, so consider what matters most to you when planning your trip.
