Almira beach

Almira Beach, the existence of which is mainly known only to locals, is located on the southwestern coast near Akrotiri in a small bay.

Beach description

Get to it on a dirt road, and then through the boulders, which are a mandatory accessory of this place, along with rocks that grow directly from the water.

The Surface of the Almira is black and red pebbles. The water is clean, calm. For those who love a leisurely getaway and natural beauty, you will enjoy the time in the natural environment without the noisy crowds and fuss. There are several caves in the nearby rocks. The rocks here are unusual, creating the impression not of the earthly, but of the unreal lunar landscape.

There is no comfort for the perfectionist beach- tourists. But great memories leave a tavern installed right by the sea. It is an amazing place to prepare fresh fish, local vegetables and treat with its own wine from grapes with a special taste, which gives the volcanic soil of the island.

If you wish, you can visit a nearby ancient settlement that opens a window to life that expired a few thousand years ago.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
