Baxedes beach
There is another beach - Baxedes next to Paradise. It is dominated by black sand, interspersed with stones. The beach is located at a 2-kilometer distance from Oia and 11 kilometers from the capital of the island of Fira.

Baksedes also has no crowd of people, youth evening discos and other noisy and expensive entertainment. He has his few fans. These are lovers of relaxation against the background of natural nature and fans of real surfing, who need a strong wind, which is abundant here. No beach equipment exists here. But surf equipment can be rented. For children and elderly people Baksedes is not the most successful place of rest because of the high waves. They get to Baksedes by a similar route as to Paradise.
There are many attractions in the nearby town of Iya that are easy to explore between beach visits: the ruins of the ancient Venetian fortress, the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Musical instruments. In the city itself, it is not a sin to wander the labyrinth of original streets, to admire the view of a colossal caldera and landscapes with near islands.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
