Katharos cannot be classified as a well-equipped beach. However, this place is renowned for the Katharos Lounge restaurant, which holds the title of the best not just in Santorini, but throughout Greece. It is open at night. There, one can always find great coffee and fresh fruit juices, in addition to exquisite dishes. Moreover, the restaurant offers a very convenient spot to watch the famous sunsets, which draw people to Oia from all over the world.
The advantages of Katharos include a gentle descent from the coast into the sea and the absence of powerful winds that create dangerous waves. The beach itself is a mere 3-5 minute walk from the parking area. You can reach it via the road to Ammoudi; just be sure not to miss the sign inviting you to turn right.
