S’Archittu beach

S’Archittu – the highlight of the resort of western Sardinia. It is located in the province of Oristano, near the town of S’Archittu, whose name (like the beach) was given by the island’s largest natural bridge. Initially, it was a cave, but over time, waves and winds gave it the shape of a 9-meter stone arch. The miracle of nature became the central arena of the world championship in 2001 in diving and inspired the work of many poets and directors.

Beach description

S'Archittu beach is a 300-meter stretch of fine white sand, in some places adorned with boulders and turning into a rocky bottom. The beach area, located next to the natural arch bridge, guarantees a carefree vacation. The sea here is protected from currents and has a shallow bottom. The most brave and experienced swimmers usually dive from the bridge. The rest enjoy sunbathing on the beach. Photographers have a chance to capture a natural arch at sunset (enclosing the sun in a stone hug) or at night (flickering in the mysterious light of a lighthouse).

The surroundings of the beach are interesting with limestone cliffs and several small bays. Vacationers are served by bars, restaurants and other institutions. You can get to S'Arcitte from Oristano by car. Wheelchair accessible at the beach.

When is it better to go

In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
