Spiaggia del Riso is a small, popular, unique beach with an unusual “rice” coastline, located in the west of Sardinia near the tourist port of Villasimius.

Beach description
Translated from Italian, the name means - rice beach. There is no sand, instead, the beach is covered with small quartz pebbles with faces, polished for thousands of years by water and wind, that cannot be carried out outside the territory. Visually, they resemble beads, grains or precious gems. Walking on pebbles is not easy, not very pleasant, but useful. Massage with quartz grains resembles a procedure in the spa, it is pleasant to lie on them.
The sea is emerald, pure, endless hills are covered with poppies. The depth is average, lowering of the bottom is smooth - suitable for rest with children. The beach is popular with tourists and locals, it is possible to get here by rented car, personal transport. The waves are small, there are sometimes gusts of wind.
On the beach the rental of parasols, loungers is provided. Nearby there are shops, campsite, where it is possible to buy food and drinks. Of the sights on the beach, there are the tombs of the Roman necropolis, Phoenician culture, in the cliffs - "Domus de Janas", tthe period of origin of which dates back to the Stone Age Occupy an area of 54 m2. Recently, the beach was destroyed by tourists, local authorities make every effort to restore it.
When is it better to go
In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
