Calangute beach

Calangute is a beach on the territory of Calangute City in North Goa. In the past, it was the capital of hippies, freedom-loving tourists and itinerant creative travelers. Calangute is a noisy resort, which is very popular with youth of Europe, India and nearby Islands. This beach is also called "Queen of Goa beaches" thanks to the developed infrastructure and various water activities.

Beach description

Calangute is a crowded 7 km long resort, located on the coast of the Arabian sea. Shore and a bottom is sandy, but littered. The water is muddy during the rush hours. The best time for visiting this place are mornings and weekdays. The entry is flat, water is warm. The shore is long and wide, very spacious and comfortable for all the tourists. It's good to sunbathe and relax.

The beach is full of sun loungers and umbrellas provided by first line hotels, cafes, bars and restaurants. Clients of these places can use these facilities.

The peak tourist season in Calangute is in December and January. At this time of the year the weather on Goa is the most comfortable. The prices for accomodation, food, services, entertainment and transport are the highest at this time.

When is it better to go

The best time to spend holidays on the beaches of India – is from November to March. These months have less rainfall, humidity is 60 - 70%, and the water temperature in the Indian Ocean is +29 degrees. There are many vacationers throughout the year. Useful information

Calangute is one of the first Goa resorts, its infrastructure has been developing since 1960. In the nearby village there is a large market where traders from the district sell seafood, exotic fruits, fish, drinks, spices, souvenirs, vegetables and other local goods.

Local attractions:

  • Kerkar art gallery with local artist's paintings. Every week in restaurants and bars take place indian evenings: people sing and dance.
  • St. Alex's Church with a fake bell.
  • Forts Chapora and Aguada.

In 10km from the resort there are Forts Chapora and Aguada. On the way tourists face with Art Complex Kerkar, Splashdown water Park and Snowpark with ice slides.

Here guests can see stingrays, water snakes and sea urchins.
