Dona Paula beach

Dona Paula – a beach in the bay of the same name on the north coast of Goa. The beach bears the name of the daughter of an influential governor who lived in these places in time immemorial and died from unhappy love. 500 meters from the beach there is a mansion where a family of a cruel governor lived who separated his daughter from her lover.

Beach description

The beach is covered with sand and stones. The entrance to the water is steep, the bottom is sandy-rocky and uneven. The water is cloudy. The beach is unsuitable for swimming. Vacationers take sunbaths, meditate and enjoy the magnificent scenery. Dona Paula beach is quite crowded, as exhibitions are often held here. There are several restaurants, eateries and shops on the shore. Equipped with water attractions, there is a rental of boats and boats. You can go on a boat trip to the places where dolphins live, do scuba diving, snorkeling or diving. In the area of the beach there are many boutiques where you can buy branded clothes, shoes and accessories.

Near the beach is the fort of Cape Raj Nivas, in the chapel of which Dona Paula is buried. Also worth visiting are the churches of Reis Magos, St. Michael and St. Anne. An exposition of the Institute of Oceanography is open at the Biological Museum near the beach, where numerous representatives of marine fauna are displayed.

Not far from the beach of Dona Paula is the island of Chorao with luxurious mangroves and ancient temples. The island is one of the most beautiful national parks of Goa, home to many species of animals and birds. An ornithological station is operating. You can get to Chorao by ferry, it is better to go on an excursion in the early morning.
