Beach description

Enclosed within a 10,000 m² area of the beach, with a depth reaching 18 meters and separated from the open sea by a net, lies a vibrant coral reef. This underwater sanctuary is home to four bottlenose dolphins, transported from Russia in 1990, alongside a diverse array of Red Sea marine life.

Visitors to Dolphin Reef beach can stroll along a wooden platform extending nearly to the reef itself, offering a unique opportunity to interact with the dolphins. For those eager to immerse themselves further, diving with fins and a mask is available for a fee.

The dolphins, untrained and free-spirited, often breach the water's surface, performing jumps and emitting a chorus of welcoming sounds. They exhibit genuine friendliness and warmth. Remarkably, these intelligent creatures have the freedom to venture through the net into the open sea and, following their explorations, they invariably return to their aquatic haven.

The allure of Dolphin Reef attracts numerous visitors, families with children of all ages included. A diving experience is priced at 339 shekels for adults (15 years and older) and 309 shekels for children aged 8 to 15.

Optimal Visiting Times

The best time to visit Israel for a beach vacation is during the spring and autumn months. Specifically, the periods from April to June and September to November offer the most pleasant weather for beachgoers.

  • Spring (April to June): During these months, the temperatures are warm but not excessively hot, making it ideal for sunbathing and swimming. The Mediterranean Sea starts to warm up, and tourist crowds are generally thinner than in the peak summer season.
  • Autumn (September to November): This season is similar to spring in terms of weather conditions. The sea remains warm from the summer heat, providing comfortable swimming conditions. Additionally, the autumn period sees a decrease in tourist numbers, allowing for a more relaxed atmosphere on the beaches.

While summer (July and August) is also a popular time for beach vacations, it is important to note that the temperatures can be extremely hot, and the beaches can become overcrowded. Therefore, for the optimal balance of pleasant weather and fewer crowds, spring and autumn are the recommended times for a beach vacation in Israel.
