Ein Bokek beach

The beaches of the famous Ein Bokek resort stretch along the coast of the Dead Sea. On the coastline, covered with clean sand mixed with salt, there are mud patches.

Beach description

In Ein Bokek there are public beaches and fenced coastal areas owned by private hotels. Free access beaches have a rather poor infrastructure. Sunbeds and umbrellas are not everywhere, but fresh-water showers and toilets are provided. You can also use the mud bath for free if there is one.

Hotel beaches, accessible only to residents, are distinguished by excellent infrastructure. Entrance to these beaches is limited. Across the coastline, a long flat slope into the water. The Dead Sea is notable for its shallow depth and very high density due to the concentration of mineral salts. Walk along the beach in shoes.

In Ein Bokek, buses number 444, 446, 486 from Jerusalem follow. Route 444 also leaves from Eilat.

When is it better to go

Israel is located in a subtropical climate zone of the Mediterranean type, the characteristic features of which are mild winters and very hot summers. The most favorable time for a beach holiday in the Mediterranean and Red Seas is spring (April-May) and autumn (September, October, early November). On the Dead Sea you can relax all year round. The water temperature in winter does not fall below + 20 °C, but in the summer it is unbearably hot there.
